Sustainable Supper Club

Join a Sustainable Supper Club!

Each week over 300 farmers leave the land. (Farm Aid)  Small family farms are becoming extinct along with the family farmer's commitment to healthy stewardship of the land.  Over 11,800 acres of agricultural land per year are converted to development in Oregon. (American Farmland Trust)

Shopping locally for foods that are farmed, ranched, prepared and processed near where we live puts fresher, more nutritious and sustainable meals on our tables, helps support the economics of our own communities - including job growth  and keeps local small family farms alive.

Consider joining if you:

  • enjoy and have a knack for cooking and/or baking,
  • support your community and local farmers,
  • are affiliated with a non-profit community agency or small local business,
  • would like to prepare more meals using local/seasonal ingredients and
  • want to become a seasonal home gourmet!

With plans to meet several times yearly, we'll prepare seasonal (ethnic or regional) dishes, take turns hosting sustainable suppers, share tips and recipes, and review local restaurants. Participants will plan a no host year-end party at our favorite sustainable Portland restaurant. There is no fee for participation in this group.
