Learning is a Journey

Sir Ken Robinson discusses revolutionalizing learning, but not just for children. Watch this inspirational video from TED.

More than 75 million people, a quarter of the U.S. population, are between the ages of 50 and 75. Demographers call this life stage “neither young nor old”; HGSE Professor Sara Lawrence-Lightfoot calls it a new developmental period. In her new book, The Third Chapter: Passion, Risk and Adventure in the 25 years after 50, Lawrence-Lightfoot challenges assumptions about aging and offers fresh perspectives on the dynamic learning that can occur during this period of life.

Discover, Design and Engage in the Second Half of Life Winter

What, where and how do you envision your future? Haven't thought about it yet? Now is the time! Explore your values, interests, skills and develop goals to discover your inner self, find life balance, and create a fulfilling life plan.

Discover guides people through the process of re-discovering their passions, values and dreams and re-connecting to who they are. Session topics include self assessment in the areas of relationships, finances, and career.

Design supports people in creating goals and action steps that relate to designing a plan for the future. These goals are based on the work done in the discover section and you will see goal-setting and using financial tools from a whole new perspective.

Engage introduces participants to resources and opportunities in the community where they can make a difference. Here the invitation to re-design the future takes hold: consider the possibilities of returning to school, beginning an Encore Career, or volunteering at a community organization that exemplifies the passion of the participant.

Class meets Wednesdays, from January 20th, until February 24th.

Parking: $3
