Retirement: Loss and Liberation
Are you transitioning into retirement? Are you frightened when you feel like you should be thrilled? Do you feel relief? Do you have anyone to talk to about these events? What have you always wanted to do but never had the time?

Retirement is a major life transition involving change: change to our daily routine, activities, social connections, where we live, how we relate to our family and more. During this time, we also question our identity and seek finding meaningful activities and purpose in life.

This Affinity Group will offer members the opportunity to explore the themes of Loss and Liberation in Retirement.

What is an Affinity Group?
Life by Design NW and partners at Hands On Greater Portland and the Multnomah County Library are forming Affinity Groups.  These groups meet monthly to share concerns, successes, opportunities and resources related to shared interests or transitional issues such as retirement, work transition or community engagement.  These are self-discovery groups with an action focus that contribute to the betterment of the community through aligned work, play and service in ways that are deeply fulfilling and meaningful for all concerned.

If you are interested in the possibility of participating in a Retirement Affinity Group, please email Virginia Hendrickson, vehendric@comcast.net.  In follow-up to your email, one of the co-facilitators of the group, Virginia Hendrickson, or Jane Schue will call to talk with you further about the group, and if you are interested, you can be added to the waiting list.
